Planned Giving

The Talmudic Sage, Choni Hamagle once noticed a man planting a carob tree and inquired: “It will take seventy years to mature and bear fruit, do you think you will live long enough to enjoy its fruit?” The man replied: “I found carob trees in existence when I entered the world, just like my father planted for me, so too I will plant for my children.”

Please consider making a charitable bequest in your will to Chabad Lubavitch of Southern Ontario. Your gift will help us improve the landscape of Jewish life throughout the GTA and beyond. It will ensure and safeguard Jewish continuity for generations to come. Remember; A bequest does not diminish your financial status during your lifetime.

A bequest is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to leave a legacy. Even if you're someone of modest means, your gift can go a long way. There are numerous options and methods to consider when making an enduring legacy.

Bequests of real estate, personal property, business interests and cash are typically made by way of a will, trust fund or even a simple codicil to your current estate plan. Other bequests, such as those involving retirement assets, insurance policies, bank accounts and stocks and bonds, are typically made by completing a beneficiary designation form. Simply contact your retirement plan administrator, life insurance company, bank or investment broker and ask them to send you the right "beneficiary designation" or "payable upon death" form. To complete your bequest, you will need to complete and sign the form and return it to them.

If you have been so generous as to include a bequest to Chabad Lubavitch of Southern Ontario, please let us know so that we could discuss an appropriate manner to recognize your generosity. Chabad Lubavitch of Southern Ontario is a not for profit Ontario corporation, and our charity tax Reg. No is: 119025450.

When planning or writing a will, please contact an estate attorney who has experience in estate planning and make sure to discuss your wishes with your family and financial advisor.
